"...the best thing they can do is to teach their children to love challenges, be intrigued by mistakes, enjoy effort, and keep on learning. That way, their children don’t have to be slaves of praise. They will have a lifelong way to build and repair their own confidence." - Carol Dweck, Mindset
Cultivate Music Studio was founded on the beliefs that:
Cultivate Music Studio emphasizes the growth of the whole person and strives to make music relevant to the life of each individual student. In addition to studying traditional repertoire and technique, students are encouraged to direct their own musical pursuits. Students will help choose repertoire based on their specific preferences (yes, even video game music) and develop their own musical tastes. Students will also develop real-world piano skills, such as composing, improvising, and playing by ear. Most importantly, students will learn effective habits of practice, discipline, and a growth mindset that can be applied to everything else in life. Using a variety of approaches, including creative and original hands-on teaching, traditional method books, Lee Stockner's Occupational Octaves Piano™ program, and the world renowned Musikgarten curricula, CMS aims to provide the cognitive, emotional, technical, and physical benefits of musical participation to every student.
Cultivate Music Studio serves the South Bay Area and is located in Santa Clara, CA.
