About Musikgarten

Research has shown that we are all born with an aptitude for music, but that aptitude diminishes if it is not actively nurtured between the ages of birth and nine. Musikgarten is a sequential music and development program for children. It is designed to nurture the child’s musical aptitude by engaging children and their families in singing and movement activities which help attune the ear, refine the voice, and develop a rhythmic body through which music can be expressed. Beginning with Family Music for Babies and continuing through Music Makers At the Keyboard, your child will step across that important bridge from general music learning to instrumental skill. Musikgarten classes are the perfect way to share with your young child the gift of music in a developmentally appropriate way.

Family Music for Babies
(parent participation)

Ages newborn - 18 months. Play musically with your baby through bouncing and rocking songs, wiggle and peek-a-boo games, dancing, moving, and singing. Music play activities are designed to increase your child’s curiosity about music, to develop listening skills and a sense of beat, and to establish the foundation for singing and musical thought.

Family Music for Toddlers
(parent participation)

Cycle of Seasons

Ages 15 months - 3 1/2 years. Participate with your toddler in singing, chanting, moving, dancing, listening, and playing simple instruments while developing a strong musical bond with your child. Through activities that bridge the natural connection between music and movement, your child’s musical aptitude, pattern recognition, and listening abilities are enhanced and further developed.
Ages 3 - 5: Celebrate your preschooler’s growing independence and love of the outdoors with activities involving the four seasons. Developed to build attention and self-expression, activities include singing, chanting, moving, focused listening, musical games, exploring musical instruments, creative movement and storytelling. This class nurtures your growing child’s ability to use language and participate in dramatic play within a musical context.
